DESCRIPTION
Fluid Skin is a joint project by Gemma Mercader and Clara Moranta in which they present individual and collaborative pieces that explore the body as a vulnerable, fragmented and transforming surface. Through sculpture, installation and contemporary jewelry, the project dialogues around the body, flow and memory. The proposal brings together hands and feet, arms and knees, faces and mouths that emerge, adhere or flow between materials. Skin appears as a fragile boundary between protection and exposure: a surface that preserves memory, contact, burn and care. In the collaborative part, the ceramic fragments created by Gemma are intervened with and assembled by Clara to become jewels, which shifts the represented body towards the body that carries them. The jewel here functions as a trace, an amulet or a small prosthesis.
