DESCRIPTION
Ajar/Sutura explores how an elementary operation—cutting, opening, folding, or joining—can transform a surface and give rise to form. The project starts from cutting not only as a technique, but also as an action capable of altering the state of a material. A cut opens, allows passage, creates a fold, or causes tension. From this minimal gesture, the surface ceases to be merely flat and begins to build volume. The exhibition brings together pieces of contemporary jewelry and fragments of the process that creates them: evidence, materials, and intermediate stages that make visible the succession of operations and decisions. AJAR opens and displaces; SUTURA connects and reconstructs. Rather than simply showing the final result, AJAR / SUTURA places the viewer’s gaze in the moment of transformation, where the constructive gesture transforms into form.
